Our Vacation - Part 7
Leaving the coast.
What a heartbreak as we turn east away from the ocean.
The party is winding down and we are headed on the home run but with some neat places along the way.
We are on our way to Portland.
As we are cruising down the highway we see a sign about the largest spruce tree in the world.
Hard left and there just off the highway is a big old tree.
I wonder who walks through the forest and measures every tree to find the largest?
Back on the road and into Portland we go.
Lunch at BJ's and then on to a small park for Zoe' to exercise.
There was a real cute bushy-tailed squirrel I tried to take a picture of. He was way too smart for that, so no picture, sorry.
Vic's mission:
Now, as Vic would tell you, comes the important part of the trip. Remember Oregon has no sales tax. That's right, we are headed to the Clackamas mall.
This is an important stop because as everyone that knows her is aware, Vic needs shoes.
A mall, no sales tax - woo hoo - Vic has struck gold. Those poor people never knew what hit them. She was on a mission.
After Vic taught everyone there how to shop we made our escape to Gladstone, a suburb of Portland.
Once again we found a pet and people friendly place to stay with a view of the river and a grassy area for Zoe' to enjoy.
For dinner we are off to the Black Angus for a steak.
Tomorrow we are headed through the wine country to McMinville, Oregon, to see one of the wonders of time - the Spruce Goose that Howard Hughes built.
We are headed into the home stretch, so join me again tomorrow for our vacation part 8.
