Our Vacation - Part 3

Prior to continuing my story, I have noticed something that will make closing down my blog easier.

Between the time off for vacation and my boring report of such, it appears the blog has lost over 1,300 readers.

Well, the vacation was so good that I am going to continue my story anyway!!!!!!

Part 3:

Morning has broken and we are greeted by another beautiful day in the great state of Oregon. Today we are going to surprise a couple of people who have no idea we are in Oregon.

Our sister-in-law, whom we have not seen in over 14 years, lives in Reedsport Oregon.

The wife has communicated with Roberta via the Internet, but I have not.

The wife has also reminded me over the years that there were times I have been less than nice to Roberta. There are other words I could use in place of "less than nice" but those that know the wife know she would not use those bad words.

It is way past time that this situation be corrected, so the wife calls the sister-in-law and asks if we could come for a visit.

Once Roberta got over the shock of the call and request, she agreed it would be nice.

As everyone knows it's not a guy thing to apologize, but when Roberta and I hugged each other and she started crying, I felt she knew, which made me feel good.

The other person we wanted to see while in Oregon is my brother Gilbert who lives in Eugene, Oregon. I called the brother and he suggested rather than us driving to him he would hop on his Harley and come to us. He loves to ride.

While waiting for the brother to arrive we had a very good visit with Roberta and her son Eli.

Eli is a very nice young man who runs in cross country competition for his high school. Impressive to say the least.

After about an hour of politely listening to the old folks talk, Eli was off to play golf. He held out 55 minutes longer than I would have at his age.

At the same time the brother thunders up on the Harley and we have our reunion.

Someone explain to me why the two guys have aged and turned gray and Roberta has not aged and has not a hint of gray. I don't get it!

After a little chit chat we are off to Griff's at Winchester bay for lunch.

Great halibut and lots of laughs and visiting, let me tell you it was a good time.

From there we are all off to a special place.

To the left where the water is breaking is where my sister Darlene's ashes were scattered and her final resting place is located below the Umpqua River Lighthouse.

What a nice visit and how great it was to see Gilbert and Roberta.

Hopefully the olive branch was understood and accepted by the sister-in-law Roberta.

We said our good-byes and as we left I realized the wife as usual was right and that visit was long overdue. I guess you are never too old to learn.

Now our journey takes us along the Oregon coast with some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever see.

That concludes this installment of our vacation. If you would like to, please join me again tomorrow for part 4.

Great photos, Dave. Thanks. The reason the men show their age is they don't dye their hair once a week or so. I could explain more but then I would be in as much trouble as you. Gene
