Diocese to investigate priest-Foley relationship

Mercieca, now 69, admits 2 were naked together but denies sexual contact

A Roman Catholic diocese has opened an investigation of a priest who said he fondled and shared saunas while naked with Mark Foley when the former U.S. congressman was a boy in Florida.

In interviews in the past two days, the Rev. Anthony Mercieca, 69, who is now retired and lives on the Maltese island of Gozo, has given different details about his encounters with Foley four decades ago.

On Wednesday, he told the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune by telephone that he massaged the boy in the nude, was naked in the same room on overnight trips with him and had gone skinny dipping with him. On Thursday, he told The Associated Press that he was naked in a sauna with Foley.

Diocese to investigate

A statement from the diocese of Gozo, a small Mediterranean island off Malta, said that its bishop, Mario Grech, contacted the Archdiocese of Miami on Thursday evening seeking further information about the case. The statement, issued late Thursday, said the diocese had learned of the case for the first time in the international press.

“In the light of all this ... Bishop Grech will instruct the response team to investigate these allegations according to the policies established by the Maltese Ecclesiastical Province with regards to cases of sexual abuse in pastoral activity,” the statement said. “Grech will pass all information he receives pertaining to this case to the response team as he has done in similar cases.”

The Maltese Church instituted the team in 1999 to deal with any sexual abuse allegations.

The church acts like they are surprised about incidents like this!!

They should be reading this blog. They instituted the team in 1999 to deal with any sexual abuse allegations which means settle law suits.

The Church has done nothing to fix the problem. In fact, as my previous stories point out, they have covered it up for years and years.

Preying on poor little kids instead of praying for little kids. To the Catholic Priests, Michael Jackson must be a Saint!!!!

Death-Row Prisoner Gets Pregnant in Solitary

HANOI - A death-row inmate held in solitary confinement in Vietnam for almost a year is pregnant and is seeking a pardon to give birth, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper quoted a police doctor as saying tests in September confirmed that convicted heroin trafficker Nguyen Thi Oanh, 39, was then 11 weeks pregnant.

The report said it was the first time that a death-row prisoner had become pregnant in Vietnam and that police were investigating how it had happened.

Oanh's husband was serving a jail sentence at another prison in another province, the newspaper said.

Oanh was due to face a firing squad this year after losing her appeal against the death sentence she received last year for possession of a billion dong (or $63,000) worth of heroin.

Trafficking more than 600 grams of heroin in Vietnam is punishable by death or life imprisonment.

Man With Mannequin Fetish Arrested Again

FERNDALE, Mich. - A Detroit man with a history of smashing store windows to grab female mannequins has been accused of indulging his fetish again. Ronald A. Dotson, 39, was arrested and jailed after breaking a window at a cleaning-supply company to get at a mannequin in a black and white French maid's uniform, police said.

A judge Thursday ordered him to undergo a psychiatric examination to determine whether he is competent to stand trial on charges of attempted breaking and entering.

Dotson had been out of prison for less than a week when he was caught. His erotic pursuit of mannequins over the past 13 years has led to at least six convictions for breaking and entering and a stint in prison.

"He told his parole officer he was going to buy a mannequin so he didn't have to do these break-ins anymore." "Apparently that didn't work out."

He just gets out of prison and sees a black and white French maid's uniform....I kinda understand that! Ooh la la French Mama 14 kids and no pappa!!!

And besides I heard the mannequin he bought was frigid!!!

'It's a very serious analytical exercise,' director says of undergrad program

TORONTO - An undergraduate program at Canada’s University of Toronto offers discussions on flogging, restraint and role-play, as well as an arts course called “Queerly Canadian.” But teachers and students insist it’s a serious academic program that isn’t simply about sex.

“It’s not sexy sex sex, where we’re talking about whips and chains, but we will talk about whips and chains,” said graduating student Robbie Morgan, 33, who left her job teaching sex education in Chicago to attend the Sexual Diversity Studies program, one of the largest of its kind in North America.

“We’ll talk about whips and chains in a political, social, cultural, religious context of sexuality and how that sexuality affects those institutions.”

The Sexual Diversity program appears one of the edgier ones offered at the university, which was founded in 1827 and is best known for its science and medical research. Alumni include Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lester B. Pearson, insulin inventors Frederick Banting and Charles Best, author Margaret Atwood and film director David Cronenberg.

“It’s a very serious analytical exercise and it isn’t what a lot of people think it is,” director David Rayside said during a visit to the school, which is located in the original Romanesque-style University College building at U of T’s leafy downtown campus.

Large donation from winemaker

The program, established eight years ago, got a $900,000 boost this week with a donation from Canadian winemaker Mark Bonham to expand the curriculum. There are plans for Canada’s first undergraduate major in sexual diversity studies, and for master’s and doctorate programs from 2008.

“A lot of the people from the university, from the president on down, think that what we’re doing is important work. But there’s still a lot entailed at persuading more and more people that what we’re doing is legitimate.”

I bet they have a waiting list at that university.

Prostitute nabs crooked cop with his own badge

Woman forced to perform oral sex on off-duty Boston cop pulls a fast one

BOSTON - A prostitute forced repeatedly into having sex with a Boston policeman said she feared the abuse would never stop -- until she stole his badge.

When the officer, Michael LoPriore, telephoned her to get it back, the FBI was tuning in to their conversation, the 19-year-old’s lawyer, John Swomley, said on Wednesday.

LoPriore, 37, was charged in federal court on Tuesday with depriving the woman of her rights by using his position as a police officer to force her to perform sex in his car in September 2004.

Under a plea agreement, the 12-year veteran of Boston’s police force will plead guilty, resign and never seek another job as a police officer in Massachusetts. Prosecutors are recommending that he serve a year in prison.

Swomley said LoPriore had stopped the teenager in a downtown red-light district known as the “Combat Zone” while he was off duty and in his personal car.

After showing her his badge, he ordered her into the car and drove to several locations where he forced her to perform oral sex, he added.

“She told me the badge was stuffed in a little cubby in the front console. His head was back and he wasn’t really paying attention to where her hands were,” he said.

Oh oh, now he is going to have to suck it up!!!!

One might suspect if he goes to jail that turn about will be fair play and he better sit in a corner and keep his mouth shut!!!
