Take a Bite Outta Crime

My blog knows no bounds!

The Roman Catholic Church is all up in arms about people reading the book or seeing the movie The DA Vinci Code. But what about this?

LA Church Abuse Records Ordered Sealed

Many of the records in lawsuits alleging sexual abuse by priests from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles will remain secret before trial, a judge has ruled. Information contained in them could indicate that individual church officials failed to protect against dangerous priests, and documents that the church has so far surrendered are incomplete.

The first three of 560 sexual abuse lawsuits are scheduled to go to trial in November. Most of the litigation has been frozen for the past 3 1/2 years as parties tried to negotiate a settlement, similar to the record $100-million pact the Diocese of Orange reached with its accusers in 2005.

The church's statement: Church officials said they originally thought the priests could be cured through treatment.

Maybe they should be more concerned about what is going on in their church rather than a book or movie!!! It is also worthy to note that all the money paid out in settlements come from parishioners, and if the church has this kind of bank account, why aren't they using it to help the needy? Also how long ago did they discover they couldn't be cured through treatment? I think the rest of the world has known that for 50 or 60 years!!!!!!

Gang Activity Cited for Jump in U.S. Homicides

The nation's violent-crime rate increased in 2005 for the first time in five years. FBI crime analysts say there is a resurgence in gang activity.

I mentioned gangs in my June 10th post. Maybe this will start people demanding a war on gangs since it will hit us all!!!!!! It should be noted that the Gangs from the East and West coasts "are branching out to smaller cities, where there is still money to be made and turf to be ruled," says James Alan Fox, criminal justice professor at Northeastern University in Boston.

Spare the joint, spoil the child?

Parents accused of rewarding sons with pot for good behavior

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Police have arrested two Chandler parents accused of giving marijuana to their young sons as a reward for good behavior. There are 2 boys — ages 12 and 11, and a 4-year-old girl.

Detectives didn't know about the family possibly smoking marijuana together until the parents and children were interviewed.

They will make a deal and get off!! I wish I could be the judge when they appear.

Burglary Suspect Flees Naked

SYRACUSE, N.Y - Cuffed man with spurting stab wound free for 3 hours after hospital escape.

Rashon Delee ripped out an intravenous drip, monitors and a chest tube, threw his hospital gown in a deputy's face and ran from the hospital naked, handcuffed and with blood spurting from a stab wound in his chest.

This guy naked, handcuffed, and with blood spurting from a stab wound in his chest and nobody noticed him for three hours!!!!!!!!!! Only in New York!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry Pat.)

Rep. Patrick Kennedy reaches DUI plea deal
Congressman avoids jail after crashing car near Capitol while on Rx drugs

The officer listed alcohol influence as a contributing factor in the crash and noted that Kennedy was “ability impaired,” with red, watery eyes, slurred speech and unsteady balance, according to the accident report. Police did not conduct field sobriety tests on Kennedy. A police union official has said the officers involved in the accident were instructed by a superior to take the congressman home. Kennedy has denied asking for special treatment.

Absolutely no special treatment there, right Teddy? Why is Harry Reid so quiet on this one? C'mon Harry, if he was a Republican, we couldn't shut you up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robber Sues Victims After They Beat Him

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - A man is suing an auto-parts store for assault and battery after he attempted to hold up the business and employees responded by beating him with a metal pipe.

Dana Buckman, 46, walked into an auto shop brandishing a semiautomatic pistol last summer, only to have it turned on him by two AutoZone employees, police said. The men beat Buckman with a metal pipe and held him with his own gun. He pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and was sentenced to 18 years in prison as a repeat violent felon. But lawyer Phillip R. Hurwitz, who represents Buckman, said the employees crossed the line by pursuing Buckman and attacking him.

No wonder Lawyers have the reputation they have. They are both sleazeballs, the only difference is one is in jail and the other is representing him. Wanna bet some stupid jury will agree and give him a large settlement because AutoZone has deep pockets?

Man Sent to Prison for Shooting Police Dog

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - A man who shot a police dog during a burglary has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Robert Lee Cooke was found guilty in April of maliciously wounding a police dog over the shooting that fatally injured the German shepherd, Igno.

Cooke was left paralyzed from the waist down after exchanging gunfire with officer Andy Gluba, who was Igno's handler. His lawyers said they planned to appeal the sentence.

"I do feel like I've been punished already," Cooke said Tuesday during his sentencing. "I lost half my body. My life and attitude is forever changed."

Yeah, he feels like he has been punished and I bet he has also found God. Too bad the cop wasn't a better shot - he should have lost the rest of his body. And no, ten years was not enough. That dog was a cop shot in the line of duty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suspect's Dog Bites Him in Police Chase

CEDAR CITY, Utah - A police pursuit ended when the suspect's dog, not happy about being bounced around in the car, bit its owner on the face. Deputies could see the dog in the passenger seat getting slammed into the window.

The dog, which is part pit bull, "became so agitated that he bit his owner in the face and this is what ended the chase." The bite removed part of the owner's nose and he stopped.

I don't trust pit bulls, but I love this dog!!! I think that's what they call taking a "Bite Outta Crime."

Man, Cedar City, UT, sure gets a lotta press lately. See my June 14th post.

There are approximately 26,000 people living in Cedar City plus an additional 7,000 students attending Southern Utah University. Not exactly a metropolis!!!

Loved the one about the pit bull from Cedar City. Seems to me the dog should get some kind of reward for helping the police stop the guy. I know it's a pit bull, but, still. :o)
