Excellent Adventure
Just 1715 miles round trip.
Hey, it was time to take Vicki to see her Mom in Loveland, Colorado, so Thursday morning we rolled out of the driveway at 6:15 A.M. to begin the journey.
Well, we are rolling along, radar detector doing a fine job, and now we are exiting I-15 and heading onto highway 70 toward Denver.
There in the median are two Utah Highway Patrol Cars as we drive by at the speed limit.
Out comes one of them behind us, and then by us, and slips in behind a semi truck and lights up his redheads and pulls the truck over.
Not knowing where the other is I kick it up 5 over the speed limit and away we go. Well, we are climbing the mountains when my radar detecter advises I got a Highway Patrol somewhere in the neighborhood.
So I set the cruise on 75 and after a minute I spot him coming up behind me and as he moves out to pass me I figure the corner we are entering with the 65 mile speed limit may be the trap he wants so I put it on the exact speed.
As soon as I clear the corner he dives in behind me and hits his redheads for me to pull over.
Let me tell you, the Utah Highway Patrol in that area are bored!
After I give the patrolman my license, registration and proof of insurance, he requests I raise my driver's window a little.
I do that figuring it was because our dog Zoe' was in the front seat being my copilot while Vicki was enjoying a movie in the back seat.
To my surprise he puts a little device on the window and advises me my tint is too dark for Utah and before I can respond, he advises it is illegal in Nevada as well and he is going to write me a warning ticket.
That was a first for me!!
That done we are back on the road and headed north. The sun is gone and all is well until we hit Vail, Colorado, when we spot a reader sign telling us visibility is bad ahead because of blowing snow. At the same time we finishing asking each other if that could be real, we were in it.
Well, that lasted from Vail all the way to about 15 miles from Denver so the going was slow.
We made it into Loveland at 7:15 P.M. which worked out well.
The return trip we got to enjoy snow as you will see in the pictures that follow.
