What are the Odds?

Las Vegas baby!!

In the city that never sleeps, everything is about the odds.

The weather person says "The odds of rain today are 50 to 1. The odds it will be hot today 30 to 1."

Everything is about the odds!

With that in mind I thought today we would look at some odds.


Ready? Odds are we start now.

Answer the question before checking out the answer. 90 to 1 you don't get them all right.

Texas with 9 wins, Pennsylvania has had 6 and Indiana has had 2.







Pregnancy:

Answer: A

Russian women receive 20 weeks of paid maternity leave compared to 12 weeks unpaid leave in the United States.

In Australia women aren't paid either but their jobs are guaranteed for one full year.

What's the chance that road rage was a factor in someone's death in a motor vehicle accident?

A - 1 in 50
B - 1 in 1300
C - 1 in 2,700







Answer: B

There were 218 deaths attributed to road rage in this country from 1990 to 1996.

In that same period there were roughly 290,000 fatalities in motor vehicle accidents.







Beatles:

What were the chances of a Beatles Billboard top 40 hit charting at number one?

A - 24%
B - 38%
C - 74%







Answer: B

Only 20 of the Beatles' 52 top 40 hits made it to #1, partly because the Beatles became victims of their own success. Some Beatle hits stalled at # 2 or 3 because the path to the top was blocked by their other hits.
