An Observation

When Hurricane Irene was headed up the East coast the Government mobilized every department from Homeland Security to FEMA and beyond.
President Obama cut his vacation short by one whole day to take command of the situation. TelePrompTer's were put into place.
Official photographers were on standby for publicity pictures of the President springing into action, everyone in the Government was telling us how prepared our Government was to give out their big helping hand and pay for rebuilding all the damage.

There was endless press coverage of such a potential disaster and thousands upon thousands of Government credit cards were printed ready to hand out, millions of Military field rations were brought in all at the ready. FEMA had housing at the ready and enough bottled water to fill a huge lake.

Fast forward to today:

It appears to go mostly unnoticed but Texas has had no rain for months and they are literally on fire with livestock and houses lost. I wonder why it is the Air National Guard is not flying tankers over Texas dropping flame retardant or dropping the millions of gallons of bottled water FEMA had on hand for the New Yorkers for the hurricane?

Did president Obama cut short his Labor Day speech to get to a command center? Did he or has he even mentioned the situation in Texas? How about FEMA are they at the ready?

Of course Texas is a large state and with FEMA's Regional Operations Region IV being located in Denton Texas it would take some time to get mobilized. How about Homeland Security after all, the police will be a little busy so any terrorist would have a better chance to slip across the border.

Last time I checked, Texas is still one of the United States, but of course one thing I'm sure has not gone unnoticed by some, is the Governor of the great state of Texas is in the lead for the nomination to run on the Republican ticket for President of the United States, but surely assistance to the state of Texas would not be withheld or delayed based on politics.

HOPE and CHANGE;

I HOPE the weather will CHANGE and rain will fall on the Great State of Texas.
