Riddle Me This

Today let's do something silly. Let's see how you do. Some of these are really hard!!

OK, try not to read the answer before you try to answer.




A man killed his mother, was born before his father, and married his sister. Yet, every one considered him to be normal. Why?


A. He killed his mother in the delivery.

B. There are two definitions for the word "before." One of them is "earlier in time" and the other is "in front of." In other words "He was born in front of his father."

C. He was a priest and he married his sister to another man.





What happens twice in a week, never in a month, and once in a year?


The letter "E."



There was a plane crash and every single person dies. No one was around for one hundred miles. nobody witnessed it happen. How did the newspapers find out about it the next day? Note: The answer is not "because it didn't arrive at it's destination."


Every SINGLE person died. All the couples lived.



On this planet yesterday is always BEFORE today. In what place does yesterday always FOLLOW today?


In a dictionary.




A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50." The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?


The man did what he said he would do. He wrote "your exact weight" on the paper.




A horse travels a certain distance each day. Strangely enough, two of its legs travel 30 miles each day and the other two legs travel nearly 31 miles. It would seem that two of the horse's legs must be one mile ahead of the other two legs, but of course this can't be true. Since the horse is normal, how is this situation possible?


The horse operates a mill and travels in a circular clockwise direction. The two outside legs will travel a greater distance than the two inside legs.



A magician was boasting one day at how long he could hold his breath under water. His record was 6 minutes. A kid that was listening said, "that's nothing, I can stay under water for 10 minutes using no types of equipment or air pockets!" The magician told the kid if he could do that, he'd give him $10,000. The kid did it and won the money. Can you figure out how?


The kid filled a glass of water and held it over his head for 10 minutes.




On a fine sunny day a ship was in the harbor. All of a sudden the ship began to sink. There was no storm and nothing wrong with the ship yet it sank right in front of the spectators eyes. What caused the ship to sink?


It was a Submarine.




A man was found murdered on Sunday morning. His wife immediately called the police. The police questioned the wife and staff and got these alibis: The Wife said she was sleeping. The Cook was cooking breakfast. The Gardener was picking vegetables. The Maid was getting the mail. The Butler was cleaning the closet. The police instantly arrested the murdered. Who did it and how did they know?


It was the Maid. She said she was getting the mail. There is no mail on Sunday!



There were five men going to church and it started to rain. The four that ran got wet and the one that stood still stayed dry.

Trains travel from one town to another town all day, always on the same track, always going nonstop and at the same speed. The noon train took 80 minutes to complete the trip, but the 4 PM train took an hour and 20 minutes. Why?


80 minutes is the same as an hour and 20 minutes.



What animal keeps the best time?


A Watchdog.



A bus driver was heading down a street in Colorado. He went right past a stop sign without stopping, he turned left where there was a "no left turn" sign, and he went the wrong way on a one-way street. Then he went on the left side of the road past a cop car. Still - he didn't break any traffic laws. Why not?


He was walking.



A woman went to visit her bank manager and she took her young daughter with her. The bank manager said that the woman's daughter could stay with his secretary during the meeting. When the woman and her daughter left, the secretary turned to the other secretary and said to her, "That little girl was my daughter." How could that be?


The secretary was the girl's father.



What book was once owned by only the wealthy, but now everyone can have it? You can't buy it in a bookstore or take it from a library.


A telephone book.



If an electric train is going east at 60 miles an hour and there is a strong westerly wind, which way does the smoke from the train drift.


Electric trains don't produce smoke.



If one child has 6 2/3 sand piles and another has 3 1/3, and you combine them, how many sand piles do you have?


One (If they are all combined there is just 1 sandpile)



What happens when you throw a white rock into the Red Sea?


It sinks.



What is half of 2+2?

(half of 2 is 1 +2 =3)




There's a one story house that's all blue inside. The floor was blue, the lamps were blue, the walls were blue, everything was blue. So what color were the interior stairs?


It's a one story house so there are no stairs.



Why can't a man living in Winston Salem, NC, be buried west of the Mississippi?


Because he is still alive.




What happened in the middle of the 20th Century that will not happen again for 4,000 years?

A year like 1961 which reads the same upside down.
This will not happen again until the year 6009



And last but not least,

What has no beginning, end or middle?


No, the answer is not my blog. The answer is a doughnut.
