Book of the Year

Message in a gift-wrapped package:

For Christmas I received two books. For anyone that knows me, two books is a considerable amount of reading.

If they were thin books, it would represent about two years' worth of reading.

The title of the first book is "No One Cares What You Had For Lunch, 100 Ideas for your Blog." The second is titled "Blogging For Dummies."

Well, let me tell you, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer,

I'm a few bricks shy of a wall,

a few fries short of a happy meal,

a bubble short of plumb,

a sandwich short of a picnic,

one taco short of a combination plate,

not the sharpest pencil in the box,

not playing with a full deck,

not the brightest bulb on the tree,

not the brightest crayon in the box,

as dense as a London fog,

my elevator may not go to the top floor,

not as quick as a stick and

I may be one bottle short of a six-pack but I see a trend here.

I kinda get the idea that someone out there would like to see some changes on my blog.

So I pick up the smallest of the two books to start, unbelievable this book has 128 pages of small print.

Yes, that's right, 128 pages of small print and none of the pages has more than a half page used up.

Five of the 128 pages are index so that leaves 123 pages to read. The first pages of the book not counted in the 128 pages are the content pages.

Those pages have funny letters instead of numbers, they go vii, viii, ix, x, xi, xiii and xiv. How weird is that no xii?

Now, my friends, let me tell you that is a lot of reading. I started reading the book Christmas Day and it has so many ideas I can hardly put it down.

So far I have made it to page x and am learning that reading is like swallowing a watch, it is time consuming!!

I wonder if Evelyn Woods still has a speed reading class?

So far I have learned that nobody cares what I had for lunch so I think this book will improve my blog.

The second book is much larger and in fact is so heavy I haven't picked it up yet.

The good news about the second book "Blogging for Dummies" is on the front it says "At last --- here's the plain-English guide to blogging!"

Well, credit Santa for knowing I only know how to read English!!

So if you see minor tweaks and changes in my daily blog rest assured it's all being done to draw more than the 1500 or so of you faithful readers I have now.

That's what reading will do for you!!!!!!!!!!!
