Well, here we are on Wednesday, better known as hump day. Another star has stopped by and graciously agreed to post his picture on the site. His name is Buddy. He is a Blue Heeler and Fence Jumper mix.

Buddy's dad, Rick, is one of the regular take-your-dog-to-the-park kinda guys who goes out in rain, sleet, hail, sunshine or the dead of night. Here, that can be a range of 20 degrees to 120 degrees with winds from 0 to 80. Rick is a regular to the night-shift dog people at the park. He has just retired from the Nevada Test Site.

The Nevada test site is approximately 1,375 square miles, and is one of the largest restricted access areas in the United States. The Nevada Test Site has seen more than four decades of nuclear weapons testing. There personnel operate in complete privacy.

Therein lies the rub - after several years, none of us knows what Rick did as he would never talk because it is top secret. One day we tried showing him pictures of things as we tried to guess what he did. Well, Rick had a zipped lip, but we did see a smile when we showed him these pictures.

When they move to Florida, we will really miss Rick, not for all the conversation we never had but as I said, he is part of the night shift at the park. For years Rick has lit up the park - no, really lit it up - after 24 years at a nuclear test range, he has a great green glow about him, and when Rick is there, the dogs can see to chase the balls better with the light. Boy, is it gonna be a dark night when Rick is gone.
