My Beat

As darkness falls I sit at my keyboard typing away at my blog, a bad habit I have of posting a daily log.

This is my city, this is my deadline and my blog must be something fine.

I sit with a double strong tea straight up over ice, which at the end of the day is very nice.

A Marlboro cigarette with smoke curling up out of the ash tray, it's night time in Sin City but the bright lights turn it back into day.

The city has a twenty-four-hour life to live, a city where there are those who take and those who give.

Unlike other cities, around the clock we have cars, bars, movie stars and even Czars.

We have street flaggers, grocery baggers, graffiti taggers and tongue waggers.

Twenty-four-hour store clerks, a city with perks, our share of jerks, people with quirks and someone, no matter the hour, works.

Stores to buy a pearl, winds that swirl, people that hurl, men who are virile and many a call girl.

This is my city, our winters have cold, our summers have heat, this is my town, this is my beat.

We have the best shops, good cops, women with skimpy tops, magicians with props and gamblers that are flops.

Women with breasts that are fake, a famous $9.95 T-bone steak, a huge lake and politicians on the take.

Tourists with a zest, students that can't pass a test, dealers wearing a vest, birds in a tree with a nest and benches to sit and rest.

People that stare, people who care, those that dare, people unaware, steaks rare and people with no hair.

Lots of crime, clocks that chime, beer with lime, stairs to climb, people without a dime and entertainment that is sublime.

Musicians that play a drum, drivers that are dumb, trees that can grow a plum and days that are glum.

Vegas baby, the town that never sleeps, sounds of horn beeps, two-wheel-drive jeeps, time no one keeps, sleazy creeps and showrooms with lots of seats.

Lots of nice people, churches with a steeple, parks to play, sunshine almost every day, what more can I say.

Welcome to my town, lose the frown, go the extra mile, share a smile, have some fun, walk don't run.

This is today's blog to the world I send, yes that's right my friend, for today this is the end.
