Wild Turkey Gets Revenge on Family
MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, N.J. Turkey day came early for one New Jersey family when one of the wild birds crashed through a house window and made a big mess.
The episode began Monday when Lisa Lane, her daughter, Lauren, and notably, their West Highland white terrier, Bubbles, pulled up to the house.
About 20 wild turkeys were feasting on crab apples in their yard, not an unusual sight.
When the birds saw Bubbles, they flew away in a hurry. One, though, did not have a smooth takeoff and crashed into a second-story window of the Lanes' home.
"It was very exciting," Lisa Lane said. "What's so funny (is) it's around Thanksgiving, and I have this wild turkey in my house."
After Lane called for help, state police, an animal control expert and a turkey-hunting neighbor sporting camouflage and toting a baseball bat showed up for the roundup.
But by the time the turkey search party arrived in the bedroom of 8-year-old Jake Lane, where the bird had crashed, the gobbler was gone.
But not without leaving its mark.
"The bird had relieved himself all over," Lisa Lane said. "The room was a disaster."
Hee hee, turn about is fair play!! What's on your holiday menu? Take a look at what I had for dinner!!!!
An animal control expert and a turkey-hunting neighbor sporting camouflage and toting a baseball bat, yeah right!!!!

Wild Turkeys Try to Hop Train Out of N.J.
RAMSEY, N.J. -- Some wild turkeys, it appears, were trying to get out of New Jersey before Thanksgiving Day.
A spokesman for the NJ Transit said train officials reported a dozen or so wild turkeys waiting on a station platform in Ramsey, about 20 miles northwest of New York City, on Wednesday afternoon. The line travels to Suffern, N.Y.
"For a moment, it looked like the turkeys were waiting for the next outbound train," said Dan Stessel, a spokesman for NJ Transit. "Clearly, they're trying to catch a train and escape their fate."
Transit workers followed the bird's movements on surveillance cameras. "I have no idea how they got there," Stessel said.
A Ramsey police dispatcher said the department had received three calls about the traveling turkeys who also were blamed for causing morning rush hour traffic problems on a roadway.
"From time to time, I've heard calls that there are turkeys on the loose," said Erik Endress, president of the Ramsey Rescue Squad, a volunteer group. "Maybe they're trying to make a break."
What the heck is in the water in New Jersey? Two stories about crazy turkeys in New Jersey, maybe my reader in Lincoln Park, New Jersey will comment and educate us!!!
Squirrel Gets Fiery Chimney Surprise
TWO RIVERS, Wis. - One squirrel got a fiery surprise when it apparently got curious about a chimney.
The squirrel fell down a chimney at a Two Rivers home and landed in a fire in a fireplace Monday night, said Two Rivers Assistant Fire Chief Gary Shavlik.
The squirrel escaped the fire and ran around the house, Shavlik said.
Firefighters later caught it and called Wildlife of Wisconsin, an agency that helps wild animals. The squirrel suffered from bloody paws.
There was no fire damage and the squirrel is alive, Shavlik said.
When asked why he went down the chimney the squirrel replied, "Well, I have seen Santa Claus do it and not get burned"!!!!!
That silly squirrel ought to swim like you and me, huh Mr. Frog?
