The ACLU is at it again

Inmates Sue Over Nude Magazine Ban

INDIANAPOLIS - Two inmates have filed a lawsuit against the Indiana Department of Correction to overturn a policy that bars magazines such as Playboy and Hustler.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis seeks class-action status and challenges a policy that went into effect July 1 barring adult magazines and other printed material that depict nudity or sexual content.

The policy could prohibit sexually explicit letters and publications such as National Geographic magazine and daily newspapers, according to the complaint, which said the new rule violates the plaintiffs' civil rights.

"The policy is written so broadly that it includes within its prohibitions such things as personal letters between prisoners and loved ones and much of the world's great literature and art," said the complaint, which was prepared by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana.

And the inmates should set the rules? You know we feed them too good as well. Give them a bible because every criminal wants to fool the parole board with the "I have changed because I found God" routine. Put them out on a chain gang work them 12 hours a day and then they won't want to read!!!!!!!!

Speaking of getting fired up:

Fire Breaks Out at Reno Fire Station

Reno NV - Firefighters were forced to fight a fire at their own fire station early Tuesday morning. Firefighters at Fire Station 14 were called awake by dispatch at 2:18 a.m. on a fire call, when Captain John Ewald said he saw smoke from their station at the intersection of Highway 395 and Damonte Ranch Parkway.

The firefighters were able to recover one wild land fire and a heavy rescue truck. The rescue truck did suffer smoke damage. They used the wild land truck and fire extinguishers to hold back the fire, but were unable to save one Reno fire engine.

So this was called in by a Captain, no travel time needed, and they still lost a truck? Add 20 bucks to the $800,000 for smoke detectors from Home Depot.

Firehouse Catches Fire, Injuring 3 Firefighters

COATESVILLE, Pa. - A blaze broke out at a firehouse, injuring three firefighters based there.

"I looked out the window a second time, because I couldn't believe it," said Nick Lymberis, co-owner of a nearby restaurant. "I never expected a firehouse to be on fire."

The fire burned in the third-floor banquet hall and storage area and was put out in less than an hour.

OK OK, firehouses catching on fire doing lots of damage - I wonder why the smoke detectors didn't wake them?

Dangerous sport:

Teen Chess Player Dies in Mysterious Fall

PRAGUE, Czech Republic - Czech police were investigating the death of a teenage British chess player who fell from her hotel room in a central town where she was attending a tournament, an official said Friday.

Jessie Gilbert, 19, of Croydon, England, fell from her room on the eighth floor of the Labe Hotel in Pardubice early Wednesday, police said. She had been taking part in the Czech Open tournament in the town, which is about 60 miles east of Prague.

The Czechs take chess seriously. The police should check who she had beaten!!!

New York men accused of laundering millions

Pair allegedly charged six figures to make electronic money transactions

NEW YORK - Two men were indicted on charges of operating a multimillion-dollar money laundering scheme from their apartments, sometimes charging six figures per transaction.

I used this as a lead in for the next story.

Laundering the loot with a washing machine

Men take literal approach with dye-stained cash from bank, N.Y. police say

NEW YORK - When Anthony Digiosaffatte and Paul Villanueva laundered the money nabbed in a bank robbery, authorities say, they took the literal approach — sticking some of the cash in a washing machine to cleanse it of red dye from a special pack that exploded during the heist.

Digiosaffatte, 51, and Villanueva, 37, then checked into a motel, where authorities say they stuck the money in mesh laundry bags used to wash delicate clothing.

"They must've washed it many times because the bills were washed out and looked worn down," said Sgt. Robert Young, commander of the FBI and New York Police Department's Joint Bank Robbery Task Force.

These two idiots must have just read the headlines in the above story and thought they meant washing machine. Can't you just hear them, "Grab the Tide it gets out the tough stains."

Speaking of idiots:

Suspected car prowler found sleeping in police SWAT van

BELLEVUE, Wash. - Police in this city near Seattle didn't have to go far to arrest a man for investigation of car prowling. He was found sleeping in a special weapons and tactics van.

Officer Greg Grannis said a municipal worker reported someone breaking into cars, including his own, shortly before midnight Monday. Officers quickly found burglarized cars, but couldn't determine who might be responsible — until about 4:50 a.m., when two SWAT team members came to the police vehicle maintenance yard to get their van and found a 25-year-old transient asleep in the back, Grannis said.

You gotta wonder if birth control ought to be free!!!! A SWAT team van no less!!

We made it to mid week. Ya'll come back, ya hear.
